The venue is a padelsmart hall: a converted industrial hall with a black steel roof structure and pale grey walls. Long violet LED strips run the length of the black roof beams – visible light fixtures up in the roof that wash the ceiling and the upper walls violet. Down at floor level the working light is plain white, so the players and the court are lit neutrally; the violet stays overhead and on the turf. High bands of frosted clerestory windows along both side walls – diffuse light only, nothing visible outside. Polished grey concrete floor around the courts. Two courts in a row, black cage frames with glass panels. A lounge corner at one end with sofas, bar stools and large plants; concrete bleachers with grey seats along one side.

Everything happens inside the hall. No exterior shots, no daylight through an open door, no view outside.

Visibly different people: different ages from 20 to 65, different skin tones, different builds – not four lean athletes. Clothing: real branded sportswear worn casually, everyone in something different – a Nike tee with a small swoosh on the chest, adidas shorts with the small three-stripe mark at the hip, an Under Armour tank with the small UA logo. Logos small, crisp and in the places they really sit on real garments; never oversized, never a logo print.
